The International Finance Corporation (IFC; USA), a member of World Bank Group, has signed an agreement to provide a loan of N800 million ($5 million) to AB Microfinance Bank Nigeria (ABN).

The Managing Director of ABN, Mr. Mattias Grammling, said, “Improving access to financial services for MSMEs would hasten growth in the informal sector and our partnership with IFC will help eliminate the bottle-necks on loan acquisitions and enable us provide growth opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and lower income clients to foster job creation and economic growth.”

The management team is proud to announce that the Central Bank of Nigeria has awarded AB Microfinance Bank Nigeria with a National Microfinance Bank License.
This enables the instiution to process with its strong growth plans, not only in Lagos State, but also other parts of Nigeria. The plans are accompanied by the increase in share capital (completed in 2013) of the shareholders which now totals NGN 2.1 bn.

The first branch to open outside of Lagos will be located in Ibadan, Oyo State and will start operations in 2014.
